ZAG Members Donate to the CFP Board Center

Dallas, Texas (March 24, 2021) – The eight member firms of Zero Alpha Group (ZAG), a national network of wealth management firms that apply exemplary financial thinking and practices to serve clients in a fiduciary capacity, have made a significant contribution to the CFP Board Center for Financial Planning (Center). The Center is an initiative of the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. (CFP Board) to create a more diverse and sustainable financial planning profession so that every American has access to competent and ethical financial planning advice.

To show support for the Center’s goals of establishing a diverse talent pipeline, facilitating knowledge for financial practice, and increasing diversity and inclusion within the financial planning profession, each ZAG firm generously donated $6,250 ($50,000 collectively). The Center paired the ZAG contributions with a matching campaign resulting in more than $20,000 raised through individual and corporate donations.

“ZAG is grateful to work alongside the CFP Board Center for Financial Planning as they strive to create a more diverse and sustainable financial planning profession — a vision that aligns with ZAG member firms’ deep-seated beliefs and core values,” said ZAG Board Chairman Scott Sarber.

Obtaining CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification is the standard of excellence for financial planners. CFP® professionals meet rigorous education, training and ethical standards and are required to serve as fiduciaries when providing financial advice to clients.

Since its launch in 2015, the Center has embarked on initiatives to grow, diversify and sustain the financial planning profession. Thanks in part to the Center’s programming, the number of Black and Latino CFP® professionals increased by 12.6%  in 2020 — nearly five times the growth rate of all CFP® professionals — while the number of female CFP® professionals rose to 20,633, reflecting a growth rate of 3.1% over 2019.
